Click image to enlargeProfessor Giamello will present the results of his studies conducted on the Michelangelo's David during the restoration 2003, and those of recent invetigations on Tino Camaino's Triptych, which resides in the collection of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The studies were conducted with mineralogical/petrographic approaches and in the case of Camaino's Triptych, using a 3D digital video microscope as well. The marbles, traces of film, colors and tool marks were all studied, and the results obtained concern aspects such as the origin of the marbles, the techniques used in the execution of the works, their current state of conservation, as well as the identification of past restorations.
